PARC Urology patients have travelled from more than 40 of the United States (from Maine to Hawaii) and 25 countries (including Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and South America) for penile reconstruction. This reflects both the internationally-recognized expertise of Drs. Snodgrass & Bush, and their philosophy of “penile perfection”. Our staff is accustomed to helping with insurance pre-certification, travel plans and ensuring the surgery process runs smoothly and cost-effectively for our patients and their families. We are in network with most major insurance providers.
For an in-office consultation, please email or call our office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 214-618-4405. We maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate your travel requirements, and usually prefer to schedule these visits at the end of the day to allow the time you need for all your questions to be addressed. Telephone and video chats can also be arranged in special circumstances.
Consultation with Next Day Surgery
We commonly arrange a consultation/pre-op appointment with surgery scheduled the following day. Most discussions can be conducted beforehand via email or phone in order to provide us with the information needed to help plan your visit. If you are interested in this option, please email our surgical coordinator at email@example.com, who will work with you to find a surgery date that works with your schedule and assist you with insurance options.
Drs. Snodgrass & Bush work as a surgical team to repair hypospadias. Surgeons need assistance during penile surgery, and for most doctors, this is provided by a nurse or a doctor in training. While operating together on an international visit, Drs. Snodgrass & Bush realized their patients benefitted from their mutual experience – not only with more efficient surgery which minimizes swelling and anesthesia timing, but also from the collective knowledge of years of experience and thousands of penile reconstructions that help guide operative decision-making. Constantly striving to achieve the best functional and cosmetic results possible, Drs. Snodgrass & Bush have published their experience in their detailed surgical textbook, Hypospadiology, as well as more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
Most patients leave the hospital the same day or the next day after an overnight stay and can return home within 72 hours after surgery. Except for lifting heavy objects, airline travel is safe soon after surgery. Generally patients will have a catheter, which can be removed in their home town or even at home, with instructions provided. Infants and young children will have the catheter drain into a single diaper or pull-up that is simply changed when the diaper is full. Older children, teens and adults have a small bag to wear, hidden under pants. Although we are comfortable with you returning with a catheter, some families prefer to remain in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area until the catheter is removed, but that is completely optional. The length of time a catheter is in place varies, from just a few days to a maximum of 14 days depending on the operation. When you contact our office we can provide details specific to your circumstance. Our team is available at all times to answer questions both after surgery and once you’ve returned home.
Our office is easily accessible from both DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport. Upon arrival, multiple options for local transportation are available, including car rental, shuttle service, taxis and Uber. The Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States, and hosts numerous award-winning hotels, restaurants, and museums, in addition to the renowned Arts District, Dallas and Ft. Worth Zoos, and a variety of sporting events. Parks, numerous restaurants, shops and a large movie theatre are within walking distance from our office.
